Last weekend we also had a series of get togethers with our class. Though I didn't attend every one, a particular party was really fun! It was a backyard get together with slow roasted pork tacos, fruit, and sangria. Delicious! Here's a panoramic photo of the backyard space, which was just beautiful! You can see my classmate, Richmond smiling big! ;)
At school, we have had a nice, easy, but informative week. Breaking up into different groups we have been doing several interesting activities. One afternoon is spent shadowing all of the individuals in a clinic physician's office, understanding the different roles of every individual and how they contribute to the patients' experience. Another afternoon is spent doing an aging activity, where we were immersed in an activity that gave us a glimpse of how difficult it is to go through the aging process. This included cataracts goggles, wheelchairs and walkers, garden gloves for a lack of senses, ear plugs to simulate loss of hearing, etc. It was great fun, but also devastatingly realistic. It helped us understand some of the challenges of aging like isolation, depression, belittlement, etc. Shocking for a lot of us.
We also had an etiquette lunch, where we learned the proper etiquette skills of a meal. It was a lot of fun, and we took a group photo at the end. This is where we will celebrate our match day (where we match into a residency program) in four years! How exciting! We will definitely take another photo then.
