Actually, the title of this post should really be where is all my furniture??? I really have kind of a sparse living room right now, just packed with all my stuff that hasn't found a home yet due to the lack of actual furniture like dressers and desks.
In my conquest to save the chair from yesterdays post, I did something that was actually really hard to do. I painted the beautiful dark wood. Now....there are half of you that will be really disappointed with me, and the other half waiting anxiously to see what it looks like now. Hopefully, after seeing the photo you are all happy with the decision I made.
Why did I decide to paint??
1) My chair did not match the finish of the table I am using. And no, I will not refinish both the chair and the table to be the same.
2) All of my chairs will be mismatched but in the same general style, so they will not be the same finish or the same architecture....So painting will make them seem united as a unit.
3) Its fun to paint things.
4) I'm a glutton for punishment to strip, sand, and paint in an apartment.
How I did it:
Lock Purkinje in the laundry/storage room with food and potty.
Giant tarp and two layers of drop cloth over TILE flooring.
No fume-inside safe orange stripper.
ALL windows open, all fans going.
Wear clothes you don't care about.
Wear socks that will stay on the mat no matter what. Do not walk off mat with socks on. When going back to tarp/mat, put socks back on. Saves your feet. and your shoes from chemicals.
Wear gloves. duh.
So here it is.
What do you think of it?? Leave a comment with your opinion. Personally, it turned out better than I had hoped for.
These two chairs are NEXT. MUAHAHAHAH.. (excuse my 80's kitchen and dishwasher)....
Also, I got a headboard for $5 today from the craigslist killer (more on that later)....
Wondering how or if I should fabric inlay it......
I have it behind my bed now and it looks good. Maybe I will keep as is until I need another project ;).
Do you think I should fabric inlay the inside with padding (more of an upholstered fabric look), or leave it how it is.....My bedroom is currently stocked with dark red sheets/duvet/etc. So the color does go nicely......
